BCLZ - The Main Reading Room
The Main Reading Room is in the first
place a reference library, where you can consult encyclopedias, dictionaries,
major handbooks, reference works and introductions to nearly all study
fields. They are classified according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC).
Around the corner is the Special Reading Room.
Here you will find - besides the photocopiers - the atlas collection, the European Studies,
and on the gallery the UDC-9-class with reference works on genealogy and
heraldry. On the other side of the main reading room you can find
the Room of Bibliographies. Here are collected the
national bibliographies, all kinds of directories, library catalogues, in
short the UDC 0-class, together with the biographies (UDC
929). In addition to the immediately accessible works in the reading-room, the Central Library maintains a considerable storage collection in its stack-rooms. You can consult these books and periodicals by handing in a request slip at the reading-room desk. This concerns the category of documents which in the LIBIS-catalogue have a call number preceded by the acronyms BIBC or BEXT. |
