Obtaining publications
- In addition to the
immediately accessible works in the reading-room, the Central Library
maintains a considerable storage collection in its stack-rooms. You can
consult these books and periodicals by handing in a request slip at the
reading-room desk. This concerns the category of documents that, in the
LIBIS-catalogue, have a call number preceded by the acronyms BIBC or
BEXT. When using the IPAC-version of LIBIS (via the Internet) you can
make the request or reservation electronically.
For publications before
1971 you should also consult the card-catalogue!
- Registered readers may
request documents stored in the stack-rooms.
- Please take into
account waiting times of about 30 minutes (24 hours for BEXT documents), as well as the rule
stating that stack-room requests are only carried out between 08.45 - 11.45 / 13.00 -
17.15.
- Requested documents are
kept for you at the loan desk for 4 working days. The same term applies
to documents which you leave for storage at the loan desk. You may
request an extension of this term.
- Readers who have
requested a document for consultation and want to borrow
it, need to submit it first at the registration desk.
- If a document is not
available in the K.U.Leuven collection, it may be requested
through the inter-library lending service (ILL).
- K.U.Leuven-dissertations
can be consulted on certain conditions, but may not leave the library.
