E-books
In comparison with our printed books, our e-books collection is still limited. The biggest advantage of an e-book is that you can search the content by means of keywords, and that you can immediately print the needed pages.
How to find them in LIMO?
After filling in your search term, you can limit your results by clicking on 'full text online'. Then choose 'books' as 'resource type'.
'Open shelf' collection (= WBIB)
The open shelf collection consists of a core collection education and a research collection.
The core collection education (cluster 6) is located in our learning centre on the first floor. Here you can find the textbooks and syllabi used for the bachelor - and master programmes of the faculties of exact sciences, engineering sciences, bio-engineering sciences and kinesiology and rehabilitation sciences.
The research collection is situated in our 'book room' (ground flour). This collection is subdivided in 5 clusters or divisions.:
- Cluster 1: mathematics, safety, electronics, mechanics (incl. industrial management), computer sciences
- Cluster 2: astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology, chemical engineering, metallurgy and materials science
- Cluster 3: biology, environmental science, agriculture and bio-engineering sciences, agricultural economics, food technology
- Cluster 4: sports and movement sciences, kinesiology, physical education, biomechanics, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, physical therapy
- Cluster 5: civil engineering, mining, urban planning, architecture, preservation of monuments and historic buildings, geography
To get a handy survey of all the different subjects of the clusters with their corresponding subject number, you can use the subject list.

When you have found the description of a book in LIMO, you always have to click on the name of the library before you can see the shelf number. This shelf number contains all the information you can read on the book label.
Therefore, it is important to note down the entire shelf number.
For the open shelf collection of books the first part of the shelf number is always the abbreviation WBIB, followed by a number from 1 till 6 that stands for the cluster. Next you get the subject number and the year of publication.
You can find the cluster numbers as well as the subject numbers on the side of the bookshelves.
WAIT-collection
A book with a shelf number starting with 'WAIT', is a book staying in a particular department, before it will be available in our library.
The abbreviation of this department or division is mentioned after 'WAIT'. If you need such a book, e-mail to the person in the attached list. Two days later, you can pick it up in the library.
Stack collection (= WMAG)
The older and less borrowed books are located in a closed stack ( WMAG). To borrow something out of this collection you have to request it via LIMO (see hold requests in section 'Access / Use').
