Library use

For an overview of access fees for customers who want to use our services (collections, ICT,…) we refer to the admission rules applied in all the sites of the University Library.
Beside these facilities some rules and agreements only apply in the Central Library:
- Holders of a valid library card from Leuven public library "Tweebronnen" have free access to the collections in the reading rooms of the Central Library. You can consult newspapers, magazines and reference materials. You can use the ICT-infrastructure (e.g. WiFi). You can request documents form the closed stack area and consult them in the library. A K.U.Leuven library card, with full membership facilities (e.g. loan), can be obtained at the applicable rates.
- Use of one of the lockers is obligatory for jackets and bags. We have baskets for laptops or books you want to carry inside. So laptop bags stay in the lockers.
- In the building neither food nor drinks are allowed. Only water in bottles will be tolerated. All due to the protected heritage nature of our infrastructure. Noisy cell phones are not welcome either. Outside the building you can enjoy your drinks or a phone call.
Visiting the building
You are welcome at the Central Library. Groups of maximum 7 persons can make a short visit to the building. At the reception you'll receive a visitor's badge and a brief guide. You can also apply for a guided tour.
On the 1st floor (not ground floor) you may visit the magnificent Main reading room. Please be quiet, do not disturb the readers and do not enter the balconies.
You can attend the current exhibition on the ground floor. A book on the history of the building is for sale at the reception desk (€12).
If you want to make use of our library services (collections, ICT) we refer to the admission info for library use on this page.
